Though just sixteen, Tenzin Kunsel has already established herself as a major Tibetan artist. She has performed extensively in the United States and Europe, including performances in Carnegie Hall and in the presence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and His Holiness the Gyalwa Karmapa. She has released music videos and she’s been the subject of a documentary film. But she has not released a CD. Until now.
Laughing Buddha Music is proud to present Tenzin Kunsel’s debut CD, Nangma Toeshay, featuring Kunsel on ten tracks of traditional Tibetan songs accompanied by five extremely talented Tibetan musicians.
Why did Kunsel choose to devote her debut CD to Nangma and Toeshay? She explains, “I would like to present this album with these traditional Tibetan songs as a gift to my elders who I hope will enjoy listening to these and feel comforted that youngsters such as I are striving hard to keep our culture alive. To my fellow youngsters, I hope to introduce genres in Tibetan music that are truly Tibetan and worth saving at all costs.”
Tenzin Kunsel and Laughing Buddha Music are contributing 10% of their new proceeds from the sale of this CD to The Tibet Fund to support their Scholarship Awards for Professional Studies.
